Deciding to change your lifestyle.
————————————–
Once we recognized we have a problem, the temptation is to want
to make a change immediately. This, however, is rarely a good
idea. The reason is that for our attempts to be successful we
need to be absolutely sure we are willing to make the changes
necessary.

For example, if we discover that we have high cholesterol, we
might want to immediately start dieting and doing more exercise.
However, this can lead to problems. If we have not made a firm
decision to make the necessary changes, then when we encounter
obstacles, (which there will be many of), we will not have the
commitment to overcome them. We then might define our inability
to overcome the obstacles as a failure on our part. This is
likely to lead to the belief that we cannot make the necessary
changes, and we give up trying.

To avoid this problem we need to focus on making a decision to
change, rather than just reacting to bad news. One of the best
ways to do this is to focus on the pros and cons of making
changes.

———————————————-
The Pros and Cons of Changing
———————————————-

Take a piece of paper and write on the top what you want to
change, for example: exercising more, or eating less saturated
fat. Then make two columns on the paper and title one of them,
pros and the other one, cons. Under pros, write down all the
good reasons for making your change. For example under exercise
you might say, get into better shape, or have more stamina.
Under eating less saturated fat, you might write: lose weight.

Under the Cons, write all the reasons for not making these
changes. For example under exercise you might say, “I don’t
feel I have the time”, or “I don’t like exercising”. Or for
eating less saturated fat you might say, “I would have to
give up my favorite foods”, or “It will require a lot of
changes in my meal preparation”. According to Prochaska,
Norcross and DiClemete in their book, “Changing for Good”,
for a change to be successful the pros have to outweigh the
cons.

Are your pros more than your cons? If so, go ahead and start
preparing to change. If your pros are not more than your
cons, do not despair. This just means you need to focus your
efforts on looking for more of the pros, and coming up with
responses to the cons that will decrease their influence on
you. Being aware of the cons of making a change is very
important, as they tell you what you need to prepare for.
Being prepared for the obstacles before you encounter them
will improve your chances of success.

How To Win That Beautiful Ladies Heart.

Having a beautiful woman on your arm is not a fantasy any more. All men handsome or average dream of having a stunning wealthy lady on there arm. It is well known that men do back away from a beautiful woman for fear of being rejected. Beautiful women are not just for good looking men. A woman will be attracted to a man that has a great personality. You can attract a woman’s heart however you look and whatever your age.

Make sure you take the first move. Do not let her beauty intimidate you. Don’t make the same mistake as most other men and lose out on what can be the love of your life. It isn’t that difficult to approach a lovely looking woman. Men are afraid that the wealthy beautiful woman are being chased all the time which isn’t true, due men being made to feel inferior to the lady. They loose out because of fear of her saying no. But how will they know if they don’t ask in the first place.

You will find that a great percentage of beautiful women stay single for a long time because the intimidate men with looks. Women should not have to make the first move. Men need to be confident enough to ask first.

Be yourself. Don’t try anything fake. The real you is good enough. Treat her like a normal human being. That is because she is a normal human being. Do not seem awe struck when you are speaking to her she will notice this and it could and probably would put her off of you.

Start a conversation that will interest her so she begins to relax and she enjoys being with you. Make sure you don’t mention her appearance too much because that can be embarrassing to both of you.

Make sure you make her feel as special and respected as you possibly can. Give her lots of smiles while you are keeping plenty of eye contact.

Take things slowly and at her pace. At the first meeting you are just getting to know each other and there is never any rush.

Do not be afraid to show her your good intentions. She will most certainly appreciate that. It will stick in her memory as a good thing about you.

If you be yourself and hide nothing, you will be a very happy person. Follow these rules in your way and you will see the benefit.

Discover The Beauty Of Uk Holidays

With the recession that continues to bite many of us are considering a staycation to rediscover what the UK is all about. After all, there is a good reason why Britain has such a large influx of tourists in the holiday season. We live in an area of outstanding natural beauty with immeasurably rich cultural and historic traditions.

Natural Beauty

Thanks to erosion the sand isn’t all overseas. Britain has a bewildering 11,000 miles of coastline, much of it unspoilt by large hotel complexes and tourist traps. And to add to the Olympic legacy, for active families, Britain has some of the best national parks in the world. Thats no overstatement. From the sparse and untamed wilds of Dartmoor to the breathtaking volcanic fells of the Lake District; whether its hiking, climbing, cycling or canoeing, there is something for every adventurer in the family.

Cultural & Historic Traditions

Yes so the weather isnt always brilliant. It can rain from time to time. This is, ironically, where Britain shines. Thousands of years of history weren’t for nothing. When the weather doesn’t qualify for time spent at the beach, Britain has an unrivalled quantity of castles and stately homes to explore. We have brilliant cities of cultural excellence in London, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester where there is fantastic food, shopping, theatre and art to be tasted.

Cost-Effective

Not only can Britain offer many of the same things and more that an overseas holiday can, it can also be cheaper too. While Britain itself isn’t necessarily cheap, by virtue of driving to your destination instead of flying can save you hundreds of pounds. By car you are also free to travel with as much or as little as you want. No expensive baggage allowances.

This means you can take food from home if youre going self-catering and you can also avoid heavy rental fees by taking your own sports equipment with you. Driving also means that location is less essential. If you’re visiting a city, you can reduce accommodation prices dramatically by staying further afield.

The most beneficial thing to your budget is that you are a national. You are well aware of what is overpriced and what isn’t and are unlikely to fall into tourist traps or get shortchanged as a result.

Until recently, if you asked the average person where they were going on holiday, the most definitive answer would probably have been anywhere outside of Britain, anything to escape the cold, mossy, overcast rock we inhabit. But this has shown you why that stereotype is wrong and why the tide is starting to turn, back to the United Kingdom.

Cambodian Documentary Wins Cannes Prize for Innovative Cinema

CANNES – A documentary using small clay figurines to tell the story of how Cambodian filmmaker Rithy Panh’s family perished under the Khmer Rouge regime won the top prize in the second most important competition at the Cannes film festival on Saturday.

L’Image Manquante (The Missing Picture) was among the 18 films that premiered in the Un Certain Regard category that was set up to encourage emerging and innovative filmmakers and run alongside the main competition at the world’s top film festival.

Panh, 49, a prolific filmmaker whose films concentrate on the brutality in Cambodia when an estimated 1.7 million people were killed during the 1975-79 Khmer Rouge regime, said the prize was important for his country.

For a country that has emerged from its difficulties and years of war, it is important to say we are still alive,” Panh told Reuters after receiving his award at a red carpet ceremony in the French Riviera resort.

The jury led by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, whose film Jagten (The Hunt) won Mads Mikkelsen the best actor award at Cannes last year, described the documentary as one of the most powerful films I have seen in many years”.

The runner-up was Omar by Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, a political thriller involving Palestinians living under Israeli occupation in which a young baker, Omar, is tortured by Israel’s secret police to betray his friends.

Omar, which was shot in the West Bank and Israeli-Arab town of Nazareth last year, received a standing ovation at its premiere as the first film fully funded by the Palestinian cinema industry.

It is the only festival that I think still cares about different films,” said Abu-Assad, known for the 2005 award-winning film Paradise Now, as he received his award.

Another director in Un Certain Regard to get a standing ovation was Iran’s Mohammad Rasoulof who was jailed in 2010 for anti-regime propaganda but came to Cannes this year with Manuscripts Don’t Burn, shot in secret in his home country.

The non-professional actors of La Jaula de Oro (The Golden Cage), a film about three young Guatemalans trying to cross the Mexico-U.S. border from director Diego Quemada-Diez won an award for best cast.

Choosing A Cosmetic Dentist In Des Moines

A Cosmetic Dentist In Des Moines practices primarily in aesthetics. This encompasses services that restore and enhance your smile. Services within this form of dentistry are whitening treatments, veneers, and crowns. You can choose to receive a cosmetic dental service at any time as they are elective procedures. To determine for which options you are a good candidate, you should schedule a consultation with your preferred dentist.

Should You Receive Whitening Treatments?

Whitening treatments are beneficial in that they restore the color of tooth enamel to a healthy white. They remove hard to remove stains caused by foods and beverages such as red wine, coffee, tea, and fruits. The treatments are also beneficial in removing tobacco stains.

The only drawback of these treatments is that anyone who has a sensitivity to peroxide-based products may experience some tenderness or soreness around their gums. Although a barrier is placed over the gums during the procedure, it is advisable for you to skip these treatments if you have experienced adverse reactions due to gingivitis and other gum-related conditions.

Veneers and Crowns

Although they are used for essentially the similar purposes, crowns and veneers are not the same. Veneers are a thin acrylic device that is placed over the front of teeth to cover cavities and other damage. Crowns require the dentist to grind the teeth into cone-shapes and place the crown over the entire tooth. Both products create an appealing smile that provides for a healthy appearance. However, different procedures are used to connect these options to your teeth.

Your dentist will evaluate the condition of your teeth to determine, which is the best option for you. Typically, these evaluations are performed during a routine cleaning or a consultation. Once it is determined which option fits your case, you can schedule an appointment for the procedure.

In conclusion, cosmetic dental procedures are elective dental services that enhance the aesthetic appeal of your smile. The services allow you to choose which options are right for you based upon the end result. Among the most common forms of cosmetic services are veneers, crowns, and whitening treatments. Each of these services allows you to improve your overall appearance and boost your self-confidence. To receive these services you can schedule an appointment with your preferred cosmetic dentist.

Pulpal Therapy for Primary and Young Teeth

The pulp is the hollow inner core of the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, connective tissue and reparative cells (see Figure 1). In children, dental caries (cavities) and traumatic injury are the two main indications for pulpal therapy (also known as -paediatric root canal,- -pulpotomy- or -pulpectomy-). The primary objective of pulpal therapy is to maintain the integrity and health of the teeth and supporting tissues; thus, its treatment objective is to maintain the vitality of the pulp of a tooth affected by caries or traumatic injury.

In young permanent teeth with immature roots, the pulp is important for the continuation of apexogenesis (the continuation of the closure of the tip of the root, or apex, as the child gets older). Long-term retention of a permanent tooth requires a root with a favourable crown/root ratio and dentinal walls that are thick enough to withstand normal function. Therefore, pulp preservation is the primary goal for the treatment of young permanent dentition. A tooth without a vital pulp, however, can still remain clinically functional.

The vitality of the pulp is the most important focus of a dental examination and check-up because it is the basis of the indications, objectives and type of pulpal therapy that will be used. The pulp may be classified as normal (i.e., symptom free and with normal response to vitality testing), with reversible pulpitis (i.e., the pulp is capable of healing), with symptomatic or asymptomatic irreversible pulpitis (i.e., vital inflamed pulp is incapable of healing), or necrotic pulp.

The clinical diagnosis is derived from a comprehensive review of the medical and dental history, including current symptoms and chief complaint; subjective evaluation of the area associated with the current symptoms/chief complaint, which is accomplished by questioning the child and parent(s) on the location, intensity, duration, stimulus, relief and spontaneity of pain;

objective extraoral examination and intraoral soft and hard tissue examination; radiograph(s) to diagnose pulpitis or necrosis showing the involved tooth, furcation, periapical area and the surrounding bone; and clinical tests such as palpation, percussion and mobility.

A treatment plan should include the following:

1. The patient’s medical history

2. The value of each involved tooth in relation to the child’s overall development

3. Alternatives to pulp treatment

4. Restorability of the tooth.

Massage and Massage Therapy You Dont Need an Excuse

years old and still going strong!

I am constantly being asked about the benefits of massage therapy and in particular, I’m asked about its effectiveness and relevance when compared to today’s cutting edge medical advances, given the fact that massage therapy is well over five thousand years old.

In response, my answer as always is to consider the fact that any therapy, cure, activity or hobby that can survive for that length of time, must deliver at least some benefits, otherwise it would go the way of every other flash in the pan fad or phase.

As a massage practitioner and recipient, I need no convincing whatsoever of the benefits of massage therapy, so if I’m asked, I’m happy to defer my own opinion in favour of that of a much higher authority on the subject, which is that of the medical community itself.

Thanks to the advances in medicine and in medical research, the five thousand year old massage therapy has now been subjected to every modern test and scrutiny, and as many of us expected, massage therapy has proven its value in spectacular style.

Massage therapy stands shoulder to shoulder with some of the most modern medical practices of our time, and as well as being a stand alone therapy in its own right, massage therapy complements beautifully, the modern advances in medicine.

To anybody who practices massage therapy, this will come as no surprise, and to be fair it’s only right and proper that any therapy linked to medicine, should be subjected to the highest scrutiny. That aside, what amazes me most is the fact that massage therapy is still considered either as purely an aid to accepted medical practice or that it is still the preserve of the affluent. It also amazes me that massage therapy is only considered as a result of a life changing event. Quite why something that is so beneficial to health and wellbeing isn’t an integral part of everyone’s life remains a mystery to me. Massage therapy need not cost the earth and the most basic massage is free and can be mastered by using the most incredible tools known to man your own hands!

Do me a favour and don’t wait for an accident, an ailment or a mid life crisis before you discover one of life’s most accessible, time proven and life enriching activities.

To your continued, outstanding health.
